Dog Scouts of America (DSA) is a non-profit dog club dedicated to enriching the lives of its members, both two-legged and four-legged. If you believe that dogs enjoy learning new things and spending time with their owners, you're our kind of dog person. Dogs were not meant to be furniture; they want to be active.
DSA helps to provide activities to fulfill your dog's needs, as well as to help build a better relationship between the two of you as you learn how your dog thinks, how he learns, and what drives his behavior. The goal is to make you a more responsible dog owner, and your dog happier and healthier. And for you both to have a whole lot of fun in the process!
We welcome members at any level of participation. Even if you can just come to an occasional meeting or event, we'd love to have you. However, for insurance purposes, we ask that after a couple of guest visits you join our troop. See our Membership page for more information.
Any dog can become a Dog Scout. The only requirement is that the dog and owner must complete the Dog Scout Certification Program, proving that the owner is responsible and the dog is well mannered and not aggressive toward people or other dogs. Once your dog has become a Dog Scout, it is eligible to earn Dog Scout Merit Badges for achievement in various activities.
The purpose of our troop website is simply to provide information specific to our troop. To fully understand the Dog Scouts program, please spend some time looking over the Dog Scouts of America website at www.dogscouts.org.
Our Troop Is Just Getting Started
We are holding our regular monthly meetings at the facilities of Dog Days Dog Training in Vancouver, but our activities may extend into areas further out. We are the only troop in the greater Vancouver/ Portland area, and welcome everyone from near and far.
What activities do we plan? Camping trips, day hikes, working together to help our dogs earn merit badges by learning fun and useful skills? Spend some time looking over the DSA website and you'll see that these and many other activities are made possible through the DSA program. We are interested in developing whatever activities interest our members.
How Do I Get Involved?
Join us at our next meeting! Also, you may join us in communicating about our group today.
We have chosen to use Yahoo! groups as our method of communication. Eventually our Yahoo! group will only be open to troop members, but until we get a little more organized we are inviting all those interested to join.
It only takes a few minutes to join our Yahoo! group, and you have the option to receive posts to the group in one of three ways:
  1. Individual E-mails:  Receive each new post immediately, as it is posted.
  2. Daily Digest:  Receive only one e-mail a day, a compilation of all posts for the day.
  3. Web Only:  Receive no e-mails; visit our Yahoo! group when you choose to get caught up.
